Merit scholarships for incoming freshmen
The Diane Zdenek Scholarship
Friends of Diane Zdenek, a well-loved teacher of Latin in Columbia, Maryland, have established a scholarship to honor her memory. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide funds to support an incoming student who plans to major in Ancient Studies at UMBC, and has demonstrated outstanding academic accomplishment. Preference will be given to high school graduates from Howard County. In the event no incoming student meets the criteria, the scholarship may be awarded to a current Ancient Studies major, to support his or her ability to participate in the Ancient Studies study/travel programs. The award is worth $500. For more information, contact David Rosenbloom, the Department Chair.
